The American Tearoom

Tea is no stranger to Americans. We have been drinking it since the early days of the colony. It did, in fact, inspire a revolution!

Tearooms are no stranger to Americans, either. Early in the last century, there were thousands of them in every shape and size across this land, their popularity unrivaled until the dark days of World War II set upon us and our fascination with the leaf faded into obscurity.

We are happy to report that tea drinking in the United States is once again on the upsurge.

As the health benefits of tea are becoming better known every day, more and more people are not only drinking tea at home, but searching for other venues to enjoy it, as well . . . the great tea rooms of America

Once again, the tearoom is emerging glorious, for there truly is nothing more relaxing than enjoying a cup of tea at your favorite tearoom.

American tea rooms are as diverse as Americans themselves. It has always been “the American way” to celebrate and embrace the individuality of her people, and the same can be said for our tearooms.

Each tearoom listed on this site is unique, and most of them are a celebration of the owner's distinctive personality.

We hope this guide will not only assist you in your search for the perfect tea room that best suits your own personal tea-drinking style, but also inspires you to search out a tearoom experience that will introduce you to something new and different.
